Friday’s coverage

For a rundown on how backups like Desmond Bishop, Charlie Peprah and Frank Zombo have been playing, check out today’s feature story.
The Jets feature one of the NFL’s best ground attacks, and as banged up as the Packers are on the defensive line, containing New York’s ground game won’t be an easy task. For more on that, and some thoughts from DE Cullen Jenkins on how he’s recovering from his calf injury, go to today’s notebook.

Injury report & McCarthy comments

Everyone else on the injury report is probable.
Coach McCarthy said CB Al Harris would not be activated from the PUP list this week. He’s still waiting to make a decision on S Atari Bigby.

Friday practice report — Driver returns
Posted by Mike Spofford on October 29, 2010 – 11:33 amWR Donald Driver was back at practice on Friday, taking snaps during the opening jog-thru portion open to the media. This marks the second straight week Driver sat out on Wednesday and Thursday and returned to the field on Friday.
Friday’s practice was outside for the first time this week.
DEs Ryan Pickett and Cullen Jenkins were inside the Don Hutson Center for most of the media portion of practice, but upon coming back outside, Jenkins joined in for the very end of jog-thru and then was doing drills in the ensuing period. Pickett remained out during that time.

Thursday’s coverage

Also, Packers LB A.J. Hawk and Jets C Nick Mangold have been playing football together since they were pee-wee teammates growing up in Centerville, Ohio. McCarthy comments
Posted by Mike Spofford on October 28, 2010 – 2:25 pmCoach McCarthy said on Thursday that rookie Bryan Bulaga would be making his fourth straight start at RT this week. He wasn’t yet ready to declare Mark Tauscher healthy enough to be active as a backup.
He also said CB Al Harris and S Atari Bigby both have been taking reps with the first-team defense in practice, and their status is being evaluated daily.
New NT Howard Green was not at practice due to travel issues. He arrived in Green Bay this afternoon and spoke to reporters in the locker room. More on that in today’s notebook.
