HEAD COACH MIKE McCARTHY
(on the first-team offense) “Yeah, a single series for the first-team offense, they had good field position. I thought the first-team offense and defense did very well in their short time on the field.”

(on the second-team offense) “The No. 2 offense, we can’t turn the ball over, so we’re going to start with the No. 2 offense in the third quarter. I think our defense is playing outstanding. The offense has got to pick it up. The defense has been on the field too long. I’m looking for a big play in the second half by our special teams and we plan on winning this game.”

(on being able to zero in on players without calling plays tonight) “It really helps. You get a live evaluation and you’re able to watch certain players and certain plays, based on what the call is. Obviously something you can’t do when you are calling plays.”

QUARTERBACK AARON RODGERS
(on getting the running game going) “It was nice to get the explosive run from Ryan. I wasn’t really sure what we were going to do on offense. I just thought we might hand it off a couple of times, but we got in the red zone and took some shots. Tori made a nice catch and Crabtree made a nice catch and we were able to finish that drive off.”

(on the balance on the first drive) “Yeah, I think you need that. We need to be able to do the no-huddle effectively but also be able to do the normal-tempo stuff and score. It was nice to get that touchdown. Ryan obviously had the big run to get us into their territory, and he’s going to be a big part of our offense.”

(on the quick turnaround playing again next Thursday) “We just get started right away. We have already done a lot of our preparation for New Orleans and just keep that going. It will be one of those weeks where it will be exciting to get to the game because there has been so much lead-up to it. We have seen a lot of Saints tape already so we are excited to get to that game and get it played.”

RUNNING BACK RYAN GRANT
(on getting some carries on the first drive) “Yeah, they told me we were just going to run it, run it, run it. It did feel good. We were able to move the ball and do some things, especially in different personnel groupings, not just one personnel grouping. I am glad we were able to get it in and then we were able to get Aaron off the field.”

(on the long run) “It was just a good blocking scheme. I just tried to make sure I stayed on my course to keep them engaged. I didn’t want to jump it too fast. I kind of figured where I wanted to go, but I didn’t want to jump it too fast. The line just did a good job of getting bodies on bodies.”

(on where the offense is at going into the regular season) “I feel good. I think that we’ll be on track. We’ll have a good week of practice. It’s going to be a test for us because we’ve got a good defense we are going up against in New Orleans, but we feel we are up to the task.”
