Lofton to help unveil Packers flag in NYC

Posted by Mike Spofford on September 4, 2012 – 2:05 pm

Former WR James Lofton will be the Packers’ alumnus representing the franchise at the 2012 NFL Kickoff Show in New York City on Wednesday.

Lofton will join the one Packers fan whose design was selected for the Packers flag in the inaugural NFL Fan Flag Challenge. The contest asked fans to submit designs with elements representative of their team’s city, community, traditions, or its fans.  The winner’s inspirational concept was then used to create the team’s flag.

All 32 flags will be unveiled during the pregame show at Rockefeller Center. The show, televised by NBC, will lead into Wednesday night’s Kickoff Opener between the New York Giants and Dallas Cowboys.

With all of the other former Packer greats out there and the way Lofton left Green Bay, I think that they could have found someone more deserving of the honor. JMO.

Packerhead9, Phillip Epps was one of my favorite WR’s and a great guy but not many people know of him.

Brett Favre isnt in the hall of fame yet…my only opinion on having him be there to represent them is just that..not saying he wont be by no means…he is the greatest qb ever regaurdless of his antics in the off-season n how he left gb. most times u see someone representing n nfl team on live television or in public they are usually in the hall of fame already. just a thought.

Why not James…too late, the Packers have “officially” forgiven James for his little elevator incident. As have the NFL, so we all should just let it rest.
Certainly James Lofton was a outstanding player, he even suited up both ways in one game…playing safety. James would have never made the Hall of Fame without one very tough and talented QB, the first great # 12…Lynn Dickey.
Would have been a trill to have both these former Packers in NY with the Packer’s flag.

Lynn Dickey would have been a good choice as well, talk about who hung in there and got his bell rung a few times! Too bad he never had a defense behind him and Lord knows he could have used a little better offensive line.

Sterling Sharp would have been perfect.

Anybody ever consider that maybe James was available whereas most others weren’t?

Lofton was available and Chmura wasn’t, right!

Although not a hofmr, Tauscher would have been my choice
