Jennings ruled out for Sunday

Posted by Mike Spofford on October 4, 2012 – 3:08 pm

The Packers have already ruled WR Greg Jennings out for Sunday’s game in Indianapolis. He will miss his second game in four weeks with a groin injury.

Mike McCarthy said he spoke with Jennings before practice on Thursday and they felt with his groin injury — which he originally sustained in Week 1 against San Francisco — “we were going around in a circle.” So Jennings is being shut down this week and will only do rehab.

As for G T.J. Lang, he was excused from practice for a personal matter and is expected back on Friday. He is listed on the injury report for missing practice, but the absence is not injury related.

DE Mike Neal practiced in pads for the first time in the regular season, and McCarthy said the coaching staff would take the full week to decide the next step with Neal. If he’s going to play in Sunday’s game, he’ll have to be added to the 53-man roster by 3 p.m. Saturday. Otherwise, he’ll have to be activated by 3 p.m. on Monday, when the one-week roster exemption expires.

Driver is in the rotation but just isn’t getting many passes thrown his direction. Part of that could be that he isn’t breaking off of the coverage as well.

Jennings will be missed but we have Driver, and the rookie, Borel. Remember when we lost Sterling Sharpe?. Robert Brooks, and Antonio Freeman filled admirably, later winning a Super Bowl.
    We got this!. Go Pack!

Mike Neal is going to enter beast mode this year! He’s finally healthy and is going to help take this defense to another level…

@HawaiiCheesehead…due to Nick’s neck injury from last season, his doctors have recommended that he retire. With that kind of medical prognosis, I highly doubt any team will sign him. It’s too bad for Nick, but he needs to think of his family first at this point.

On DD: There just comes a time when you have to go, there is really no nice way to say it. The Packers have very talented younger receivers. IMO, Randal Cobb is going to be a great player. He needs more time on the field, thus, somebody will lose that time and it’s going to be Donald Driver.

I would like to see DD on the coaching staff. Everybody know his work ethic and team loyalty is unmatched. He would be a great mentor for these younger players.

Borel is on the practice squad. Boykin is the sixth receiver on the roster. While I love Driver, I will be a little disappointed if Boykin is not active for this game. We need to see what he can do.

Jennings get well soon. Can’t wait to see you back on the field. Cobb will be a great player, he has the speed and the agility. Have to work on converting 3rd downs. Rodgers keep up the good work. The whole team is doing really good. Still have a few things to work on but it’s getting better. Go out there and show the Colts what PACKER football is all about. You guys have the best fans in the world and we will be out there on the field with you guys on Sunday just like we are every week. Good luck go get them.
