To beat the Bears year-in-year-out whether we are contending for the NFC title or not is always the goal...not an afterthought. Remember when Lovie Smith commented after taking the job in Chicago...#1 is to beat the Pack. Lovie is not the first nor will he be the last to echo that Pack-hating sentiment...those who came before him loathed our green and gold. Our storied histories are both rich with titles. There-in lies the rub and the bragging rights. This rivalry is like a cross-town high-school grudge match every year. You see it in the players and in each fan-base every season beginning with the draft. We are proud and rabid fans when it comes to defending our teams and touting our titles. This Sunday we face another nemesis that knocked us out of the playoffs last year.
I hope we swagger into this game with a Paul Bunyan size chip on our shoulder and send these Giants home whimpering. This is a gut-check game we must win. Having key injuries should not be an excuse we could fall back on with a loss to the Giants. In 2010 we won the show sustaining 16 similar key injuries…next man-up did his job and we triumphed. MM has not changed that mindset from 2010, he still believes the back-ups can step in and fill the gaps left by injuries. The IR players are invaluable in their willingness to teach their back-ups…one example is Hayward with four INT’s. Sure we can still win our division with a loss to the Giants but another loss to Eli would sting almost as much as a Bears loss. It is time to send a message to the league, the commentators, and the doubters that the Pack is indeed back.

Just a feeling....
It feels like this year the Packers are missing a gear. Compared to SanFran last night the Packers play, effort, and energy seems slow and lacking. It's like they are walking while everyone around them is running. Both lines Off & Def seem slow out of their stances. Not alot of effort to take on and beat down their opponent, especially the O-line who look like they are wearing concrete shoes. It looks like when the ball is snaped they just stand up and let the D-lineman plow them over. Compared to the niners who were firing off the line and destroying the guy in front of them. Which is why they have a run game and we don't. It's the same reason I think Matthews stands out so much on the field he seems to be going twice as fast and hard as the rest of the D-line. It feels like the secondary is always a step or two behind the recievers except for Hayward who's flying up and down the field. Tramon looked horrible against Johnson. On the long pass, or was it a punt, he looked like he was playing outfield in a baseball game trying to back up the other outfielder. It looked like he didn't want anything to do with him. I think they all seem to be lacking enthusiasim, drive and energy to obliterate the other team. Unlike Sanfran Houston ATL Balt and NE who seem to be energized out on the field and out playing everyone on every snap. If they don't find that gear and energy the play-offs won't last very long.

I was glad to see the Bears get hammered last night, I don't think it would have helped much if Cutler would have played in that game. I think a stinger that is going to hurt us is the game we had taken away a Seattle. I would love to see them again in the playoffs, I don't think they are as good as what their record reflects.
It's great that the Packers fought through injuries and some mistakes on the field to be tied for division lead. It shows a lot of character and a non-quit attitude. Let's keep taking it one game at a time. Really important not to over look the Vikings. Go Pack!!

Cautious optimism. The Giants game this week will be a tough test, as will the Bears in Chicago. The Pack should sweeep the Vikings and complete the sweep of the Lions, and the Titans should give us no trouble. But the Bears host the Vikings and the Seahawks, and go on the road for the Vikings, Lions and Cardinals-- I don't see any of those teams likely pulling off the upset. If we lose to the Giants but beat the Bears, we should win the North, having swept Chicago. If we lose to the Bears, the tiebreakers probably won't enter into it-- Chicago will likely win the division with a better record. So the Bears game becomes a must win, while we could live with a loss to the Giants. Assuming we don't lose any others.

As RichardSRussell alluded to, winning the division is not necessarily the ticket to New Orleans, but winning on the road in the playoffs will be tougher this year than it was in 2010. Away from Lambeau, San Francisco, Atlanta, and Chicago (again) would all be treacherous. Winning the division reduces the chances of that having to happen.

Absolutely loved Gruden's comment last night after an incredibly stupid caall by the officials ( pushing Carimi in the back while going after the fumble as Carimi is batting the ball out of bounds ? ) They come back from commercial and Gruden finds the Niners penalized 15 yards so the Bears get a first down instead of 3rd and 30 or so .....and he says " HOW do you give the Bears the ball back after a possession like that ? " Loved it .

Perspective, friends. The Packers led the NFC North for the entire season last year, and somewhere along the line people got the idea that "home field thruout the playoffs" guaranteed that they'd be IN every game thruout the playoffs. Next Sunday's opponent thot otherwise. Unlike NASCAR, nobody keeps records on how many laps you were leading; the only thing that matters in the NFL is that checkered flag.

Don't look ahead and don't look back. Think Giants. It's nose down time. Everybody in our division but the Lions is out to win it. The Vikings are lying low in the grass, just waiting for us to trip. Cutler comes back and the Bears have a point to make. Even the Lions hate us just because... ha! ha! Isn't this fun? Oh, and the Cardinals...don't forget the Cardinals...Aaron never will! Still like Coach says, "Don't look ahead."
