I agree that this will be the last year we will see this receiving corp intact. DD will be gone (he essentially already is as invisible as he has been this season). Jennings’s market value will be down somewhat because of his limited game time this year but he is still considered the star of the show. James Jones’s breakout season was well timed for everyone involved. His productivity saved the offense when everyone else was injured and it made Jones VERY marketable for a trade. Prediction: GB re-signs Jennings and trades Jones to make room in the salary cap.

I’ve got a picture of Donald Driver with his arm around my son’s shoulder and both grinning from ear to ear. His wide reciever’s coach was yelling at him to get inside for team meetings, but DD wanted to make sure that all of the fans that waited got an opportunity to get a photo first.

I’m sure that you all have fond memories that are similar to this and we all think that # 80 is one of the most charismatic football player of all time. I too would like to thank him for his work and dedication to the Packers Organization and Packers Fans.

Now that the emotional side of this issue has been resolved. The facts are that only 46 players can suit up for any given game. To be one of those 46 players, you need to be able to contribute in muliple areas or be an elite player like Rodgers or Matthews that give the Packers the best chance at winning the game.

No Packers Fan that knows what DD has contributed to the Packers Organization wants to see him standing on the sidelines in street clothes, but the reality is that he jsut can’t contribute to the team the way he has in the past.

I’m a diehard CHEESEHEAD and a loyal DD fan but it is time to allow the next generation of players to continue the proud heritage of being a Green Bay Packer.

I think Donald Driver should play and retire after we win the Super Bowl. When he was on the field this year he did make some nice catches when the ball was thrown to him. First he needs to suite up, put into the game and finally have the ball thrown to him. Ted Thompson really would like to see him gone since he is the last of the players he took over. Dancing with the Stars proved fan loyalty and forced Ted to keep him one more year but did not force Ted to let Driver play. Whatever happened to the crossing route with Driver for the short yard 1st down?

Although I have always been and will remain a Packer Fan, I too feel like we no longer stand apart. What difference does it make that we are community owned if our actions are just like all the other teams. Based on most recent news post that both Nelson and Cobb didn’t practice today looks like we will see DD after all….maybe playing him last week would have kept Cobb and Nelson healthy while giving DD the respect he so deserves at Lambeau.

I WAS a Packer Fan for Years { I am 70 ].I have not seen such disrespect for Footbal players as I have seen with the Great G B Packers..Not Great in my eyes anymore .Since Mc Carthy & TT, the Packers have gone downhill in my eyes & in many people my age ..The Packers are a Cookie Cutter team ..Not unique anymore ..Donald Driver is another casulty………………….

It was sad watching the all time leader in receptions for the Green Bay Packers stand on the sidelines in a game that was decided before the fourth quarter. Just a shame. Packers need to do something to rectify this…maybe retire his number?

Thank you, exactly what I think. If he is going to go out, he should be able to do it IN ALL IT”S GLORY, not just “oh there’s poor Driver sitting on the sidelines” and now he is retired. What a great player. Plaaaaeeeeese. Play him, everybody, especially someone as dedicated to the Packers as he has been DESERVES the right to finish in glory.

As a lifetime Packer Fan I must disagree with those who seem to think that both player and fan loyalty are not important. NFL may be a business but not to the fans. We are not fans of the business, we are fans of the game and the people who make up the game. So to not expect that true fans would be disappointed to see DD on the sidelines in possibly our last home game is ludicrous. Donald is who my AZ born kids have looked up to all these years as the face of the Packers. He deserves our respect and emotions. Go Pack Go!

Driver has been a great player for the Packers for a long time. However, he does not play special teams and he doesn’t return punts. You can’t make a case to activate him and only have him play a handful of snaps. Hopefully he decides to hang it up this after this year because I’d love to see him retire as a Packers. Open your eyes people winning comes first.

You activate the best players to give you a chance to win that game. Period end of story. McCarthy obviously made the right decision as we kicked the ViQueens butt and the rookie he activated earned a game ball. I suppose the same people mad about this would have kept Favre instead of starting Rodgers!!

I think that Donald still has “it”. I don’t think that Rodgers is very willing to throw to him and I can’t understand why. He still has great hands. I like Rodgers, but maybe he is hung up on the “age” or the fact that Donald was Brett’s go-to guy. We will see how Rodgers feels about things when he is that age. For now, I hope to see Driver playing this week and think that he can help. Playoff experience is important. I also wish Donald and his family good health and happiness in whatever this next year brings.

You need to get your head checked. Woodson is a first ballot HOF player. Driver will be a PHOF at most. Did you see Woodson get into the backfield and tackle AP for a loss? Maybe 3 people in our team have done that this year. What has Driver done that is comfortable? Ill say it again you guys are giving Packers a poor name.

Calm down folks. Before signing his current contract DD stated he wanted to play two more years and retire as a Green Bay Packer.

Guess what? That contract is coming to an end very soon and Donald gets to retire as the most beloved Packer of them all. He’s going in style, and he IS going his way.

These past two seasons Driver’s biggest role has been to mentor the younger recievers. What you see Nelson, Crabtree, Jones … doing this season is what they have been learning from, maybe, the greatest wide reciever in Packers history (on stats, character, commitment and loyalty).

I say, to heck with Favre, Donald Driver’s # should be retired.
