Harris poll ranks Packers second most popular team

Posted by Mike Spofford on October 17, 2013 – 11:03 am

The latest Harris poll ranks the Packers as the second most popular team in the NFL among U.S football fans.

The Packers ranked third each of the last two years in the same Harris poll. This year, the Cowboys hung onto their No. 1 spot, while the Broncos moved up from No. 17 to No. 3. The Giants and Patriots round out the top five.

A look at the complete poll can be found here.

Just goes to show how big of fair-weather fans the Broncos fans are. If the Packers were terrible we would still be in the top 3.

Very small sampling of the “public”.

Sounds like Broncos and Seahawks have a serious bandwagon fan problem.

Living in Denver, I would attribute the Broncos rise to converted Colts fans and/or Manning fans vs the fair-weather comment. Seahawks, that’s another story….go pack go

I would say that the Patriots likely got there in a similar fashion a few years back as well. Play well and all of a sudden you find fans that you never knew existed, or knew they were fans themselves.

Pittsburgh seems to have a different problem with their bandwagon…the wheels are falling off.

The John Madden effect still rages on vis-a-vis the Cowboys as “America’s Team. Note to Mr. Madden and Cowboys fans everywhere: The Packers have been, still are,and always will be the REAL America’s team…’nuff said.

I just don’t get the Cowboys as #1. Not sure where are how the pole is done. The folks in Texas and Oklahoma must be stuffing the ballot box. Sure isn’t the rest of the country. GO Pack!!

According to 2,577 U.S. adults from Sept. 18-24.
I think a much wider sampling is required!

The consistency of ranking of many of the teams over time would suggest that the polls (not poles, daaa) are fairly accurate.

If they took a poll to find the most HATED team the Cowboys would win. They are not Americas Team. They are Mexico’s Team.

I live in Boise and I see more Packer bumper stickers and people wearing something Packer! To the comment about Dallas being Mexico’s team….. I thought that was the Raiders. Packers are definitely small town Amerca’s team as it should b
