    Packers fans 21 years and older are invited to bring the spirit of Green Bay to Chicago a day early with a free Packers Everywhere Pep Rally. Packers President/CEO Mark Murphy will take part in the pre-gameday excitement by greeting fans and participating in a Q-and-A session with Wayne Larrivee, the radio voice of the Packers. Packers alumni Mark Chmura and Don Beebe will also be at the rally to socialize with fans, sign autographs and discuss their thoughts on the next day’s game against the Bears. A round-table discussion with Packers.com writers Vic Ketchman, Mike Spofford and the audience will conclude the event.

Cochran to be inducted into Alabama Sports Hall of Fame

John “Red” Cochran, a former Packers assistant coach and longtime scout, will be inducted posthumously into the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame on Saturday.

A native of Fairfield, Ala., Cochran was the Packers’ offensive backfield coach for two different stints — during the Vince Lombardi era from 1959-66 and then again from 1971-74.

After retiring from coaching, Cochran became a full-time scout for the Packers until 1987 and then continued in that capacity part-time until his death in 2004 at age 82.

Cochran was inducted into the Packers Hall of Fame in 1997.

    Congratulations to Red Cochran.
    I lived right next door to the Cochran Family. He was a wonderful man and spent many hours talking football with me and my dad. I remember the day when Joe Montana was drafted by the 49ers, Red was very upset the Packers didn’t take him. He lobbied very hard for Montana.
    Red had one of the best football minds ever.
