Pregame warmup: Aaron Rodgers, Eddie Lacy, Jordy Nelson healthy scratches

Posted by Mike Spofford on August 9, 2014 – 5:44 pm

NASHVILLE — Another (pre)season is about to begin, and against a familiar August foe.

The Packers are at LP Field in Nashville to take on the Tennessee Titans tonight. The two teams haven’t met in the preseason since 2009, but that last meeting finished a string of eight consecutive years the Packers and Titans went head-to-head in August.

Here’s the latest on tonight’s matchup:

Starters sitting: For the Packers, QB Aaron Rodgers, RB Eddie Lacy and WR Jordy Nelson will not play. They are healthy scratches. Replacing them in the starting lineup are QB Matt Flynn, RB James Starks and WR Jarrett Boykin.

Injury update: Seven players on the Packers roster did not make the trip to Nashville due to injuries. They are S Tanner Miller, S Morgan Burnett, TE Colt Lyerla, OL Don Barclay, WR Jared Abbrederis, DL Letroy Guion and DL Jerel Worthy. The injuries to Barclay and Abbrederis are season-ending.

Burnett’s absence puts a significant spotlight on the safety position, as converted CB Micah Hyde will get his first game action at safety, and first-round draft pick Ha Ha Clinton-Dix will make his pro debut. Reserve safeties Sean Richardson and Chris Banjo also have earned praise from the coaching staff during camp, making safety one of the most competitive positions on the roster.

For a rundown on key storylines and players to watch tonight, check out packers.com’s companion preview stories on the offense and defense.

Hot weather: Temperatures at kickoff are expected to be in the mid-80s, which is higher than the Packers have had for any of their training camp practices thus far. There are also scattered thunderstorms in the area, with precipitation chances of around 50 percent during the game.

On the road again: Next week, the Packers will be back on the road for a Saturday afternoon preseason game in St. Louis. Green Bay will then play its final two preseason contests at home, against Oakland and Kansas City.

Send in your questions: Vic Ketchman will write “Ask Vic Halftime” tonight, so send in your questions by clicking here.

Lacy needs to play… at least 10 runs… The offensive line is way way different, he needs to learn them…

The announcers talked over the national anthem. Not cool I love the Packers but the announcers should not do that.

Bob Plous the direct TV football package covers regular season games only! However you can call DT and ask them about pre-season games on your smaller devices!

Agreed on talking during the anthem. Need to be respectful. For the DirectTV comment, they replay at 8 am tomorrow, and no direct feed during preseason.

For Bob Plous: I live in Central Florida and also have Direct package for a few years. NO YOU DON”T GET PRESEASON GAMES… Nobody gets anything, the greedy, money hungry. NFL CONTROLS. They are going to ruin the Football Fan Base they have who like to follow their favorite team, regardless where they live. For goodness sake if there is so much money involved that you have to do this, SELL me a way to watch OR LISTEN to a radio broadcast of the Packer Games. GREED, MONEY HUNGRY, LACK OF CONCERN FOR THOSE OF US THAT WANT TO FOLLOW OUR TEAM. And some of us can say our team as we own our Packers by stock ownership. Or even more if your like me who go back to the 40’s and “old City Stadium” when we bailed out the Packers who were in financial trouble. My Dads business purchased a block of tickets and gave them to their employees to help the team stay afloat and in Green Bay. I’m really angry about this in case you couldn’t tell….

OMG!!! My son figured out for me how to hear the live broadcast… He tuned in the radio broadcast in Green Bay and put his cell phone next to the radio. I put my cell phone on speaker phone. Yippie I get to listen and the NFL does not make a penny on this…

New to the blog but but not the website. I’m a HUGE PACK fan deep in Bears country & proud of it. So I know it’s the 1st pre-season game, but man is it AWESOME to see the Pack back!!! And I don’t know how you guys feel but I really like seeing HA-HA on our squad. He looks good in Green & Gold. And it’s nice to have a big strong athletic safety on the team. I really think this kid is gonna make a huge difference on the back end. Esp as he gets more acclimated to the playbook. Once he can just let his instincts take over w/out having to think to much about what he’s doing, I truly believe he’s gonna be exactly what Ted & Mike we’re looking for. Just a thought. Enjoy the game everybody!

For the idiot who thinks TT has anything to do with players getting hurt he is a gm not a couch and even if he was a couch injuries happen if you can’t over come those you will not win in this league. Second of all it is for precaution . TT is by far best gm in this league we rarely pick up those expensive fa that never help win we all ways have the most home grown talent and compete for the Super Bowl. The pre season games are on nfl network every game willbe shown some are live and the rest are reruns. Packers will be on at 8am Sunday. If you have direct tv that is 212.

richardson #28 looked great. There are a lot of peices that need to be brought together but there is the talant on the roster to do so. just need to figure out when and where

Watched bears, vickings , and lions are on now bears looked decent. Thought the vickings d is learning that new d very fast thought they would struggle although it was against Matt Shaub and lowly raiders. We should win division by 2 games bears and lions will put up a good fight but in the end cutler will be hurt and lions d all ways falls apart.

Charlie, I agree. I like Sean a lot too. Big strong athletic kid w/ great instincts & a hitter! I think him & Ha-Ha need to be our SS & FS. That would be a great combo for many years to come! Im watching the game & Ha-Ha just made a great play! Stripping the ball from the TE after 1 step. He covered ground so fast. This kid is good!

As much as I hate to say it but you guys are right. The Bears did look pretty good on Offense. I’ll hear about it all year if they are contending. I hate living near Chicago!
