140812-news-now-mccarthy-300GREEN BAY–Aaron Rodgers will likely play this Saturday in St. Louis, and again in game three of the preseason.

“That’s usually how it goes,” Coach Mike McCarthy said following Tuesday’s practice.

Jordy Nelson returned to practice after missing Monday’s work with a tender hamstring.

“I took it light with him today,” McCarthy said.

Rookie wide receiver Jeff Janis, who didn’t play in last Saturday’s preseason opener in Tennessee, was singled out for praise.

“Jeff Janis has made a play every day he’s been out there. He made a play today,” McCarthy said.

Julius Peppers also got McCarthy’s seal of approval.

“He’s getting more and more comfortable. I think he’s having a solid camp,” McCarthy said.
