“I don’t think it lines up like it used to, like it’s a full-blown game situation, but I think it’s the most important game still because you have to cut to 75. This will be the longest the starters play,” Packers Coach Mike McCarthy said following Tuesday’s practice.
“I look at play style and get the whole team to play the right way. Then you look at communication, obviously production. Special teams is always a little more challenging. I just want to see us make progress and ultimately win the game,” McCarthy said of his goals for Game 3 of the preseason.
The league is expected to increase the size of practice squads from eight to 10 players, which would help soften the blow of the final roster reduction.
“I think it’s awesome. They can give us as many as they want. I’ll be thrilled if it goes to 63,” McCarthy said.
