GREEN BAY–Mike McCarthy and his coaching staff will be wearing new, state-of-the-art headsets that block out background noise, but rookie center Corey Linsley will be making his first pro start in the NFL’s noisiest stadium without similar protection.
“You can’t protect him; he’s playing center. The best protection he has is Josh Sitton and T.J. Lang and Aaron Rodgers. He’s surrounded by some very good people,” McCarthy said at his Monday press conference, as the Packers continue their preparation for Thursday’s season opener in Seattle. “The challenge of noise is it makes you work harder on your communication. That’s it.”
The Packers spent much of the spring and training camp practicing in noise. Now, the real test is at hand.
“We’re about the Seattle Seahawks right now,” McCarthy said.
