GREEN BAY–Two days before the Packers are to face the Vikings, the Packers can only guess as to what quarterback they’ll be facing on Thursday night.
“It’s part of the preparation. It’s not the first time it’s happened to us and it’s not the first time it’s happened to us vs. the Minnesota Vikings,” Coach Mike McCarthy said.
Rookie Teddy Bridgewater delivered an upset win over the Falcons on Sunday, but he sustained an ankle injury during that game and it’s unknown if he’ll be ready to play on Thursday. It harkens memory of a playoff game two years ago, when the Vikings successfully disguised an injury that sidelined Christian Ponder for that game. Should Bridgewater be unable to play on Thursday, he would be replaced by Ponder.
“We’re focused on what they do conceptually,” McCarthy said.
The Vikings have a new offensive coordinator under new Head Coach Mike Zimmer, a former defensive coordinator.
“They’re different. It’s Norv’s offense and you see more quick screens,” McCarthy said.
“He always challenges you schematically. He’s an aggressive coach. You can see his pressure packages,” McCarthy said of Zimmer.
Packers linebacker Clay Matthews (groin) was a full participant in practice on Tuesday.
