141008-news-now-mccarthy-300GREEN BAY–Wednesday’s “heat” wave helped prepare the Packers for what they’ll face in Miami on Sunday.

“Had to wear sunblock today. It was 48 and sunny. We’ll be ready for the weather. We’ll be ready. I feel confident of it,” Coach Mike McCarthy said following practice.

The weather forecast for Miami is for hot, humid and possibly rainy conditions.

The Dolphins will be coached by former Packers offensive coordinator Joe Philbin.

“I’m very proud of Joe and thankful for our relationship and time together, but this is a game we both need. Joe Philbin was a big part of our success. I’ve always admired Joe for the love he has for his family,” McCarthy said.

Starting defensive end Datone Jones did not participate in practice due to an ankle injury he sustained in the win over the Vikings.

“I put Datone Jones in a day to day category,” McCarthy said.

Jarrett Boykin (groin), Josh Boyd (knee) and Sam Barrington (hamstring) were limited in practice.
