141012-in-game-updates-3-300aMIAMI–The Packers held a 17-10 lead and had one more quarter of hot and humid football ahead of them at Sun Life Stadium on Sunday.

Ryan Tannehill took off on a 40-yard run to start the second half and the Packers’ 10-3 lead was immediately at risk. Pass interference on Davon House moved the ball to the Packers 14, from where Knowshon Moreno ran for 5 yards, but a false start erased that gain.

On second-and-10 at the 14, a screen pass to Moreno gained 8 yards, third-and-2, but another false start pushed the ball back 5 more yards, third-and-7 from the 11.

That’s when Tannehill made his best pass of the day, to Jarvis Landry for a touchdown that tied the score, 10-10, with 11:48 to play in the third quarter. Tannehill was under a heavy rush and floated the ball over tight coverage by Tramon Williams.

An Aaron Rodgers scramble kick-started the Packers’ next possession, and the Packers slowly started poking holes in the Dolphins’ defensive front. On third-and-2, Eddie Lacy was stopped for no gain, but Coach Mike McCarthy nixed a punt. Rodgers rolled to his right under heavy pursuit by Cameron Wake, and threw a perfect strike to Jordy Nelson for a first down. It is one of the big plays of the game.

Davante Adams turned a short pass into a long run, a gain of 24 to the Dolphins 18.  Rodgers went back to Nelson for a gain to the 7, first and goal.

On third-and-goal from the 5, Rodgers scrambled away from the rush and found Randall Cobb for a touchdown and a 17-10 lead with 3:44 to play in the third quarter.

Tannehill hit Mike Wallace for 25 yards. The Dolphins faced a critical third-and-8. Tannehill hit Damian Williams for a first down at the Packers 25. That’s where the quarter ended.
