Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron RodgersMIAMI–An opening touchdown drive and a goal line stand left the Packers leading the Dolphins, 7-3, following one quarter of play at hot and humid Sun Life Stadium.

The Packers opened in their no-huddle offense after receiving the opening kickoff. Two completions to Davante Adams netted 23 yards. On third-and-8, Aaron Rodgers ran a quarterback draw for a first down at the Dolphins 37.

Rodgers then found Randall Cobb for 28 yards to the Dolphins 9. A Rodgers to Jordy Nelson touchdown pass followed, on a play in which Rodgers changed the play at the line of scrimmage. Packers led, 7-0, with 10:09 to play in the first quarter.

Mason Crosby saved a touchdown on the ensuing kickoff by upending Jarvis Landry at the Packers 49.

Ryan Tannehill opened with a 9-yard completion to Lamar Miller. The Dolphins eventually faced a third-and-7 from their 34 and Tannehill threw incomplete. A neutral zone infraction against the Packers shortened Caleb Sturgis’ field goal attempt to 48 yards; it was good, 7-3 with 8:15 to play.

Rodgers converted a third-and-9 with a pass to Adams to begin the Packers’ next possession. Rodgers was as hot as the south Florida weather, but on third-and-11 Cameron Wake sacked Rodgers. Tim Masthay’s punt was then blocked and the Dolphins had the ball at the Packers 16.

The Dolphins faced a big play on third-and-7 and Tannehill hit Landry for 9 yards to the Packers 4. On third-and-goal from the 1, Tannehill threw behind his receiver and incomplete. On fourth-and-goal, the Packers stuffed Knowson Moreno for no gain.
