GREEN BAY — As the Packers wrapped up their two days of playoff bye week practice on Saturday, Head Coach Mike McCarthy was pleased with everything the team was able to work on, from red zone to third down pressure periods and everything else the coaching staff’s self-scout told them they needed to shore up.
“The team (11-on-11) work was great. It was all competitive,” McCarthy said. “Our young guys got a lot of work. It was a very beneficial practice. We had the half-line drill, got some hard run plays in. That was good for our offense and good for our defense. It’s always good to be in pads.”
The players will report back to work on Monday for game-plan meetings and will return to the practice field on Wednesday for their normal work week leading up to next Sunday’s NFC divisional playoff at Lambeau Field. The Packers will find out their opponent this weekend as the wild card games are resolved.
“Just as we left the field, we said whatever happens here the next two days is totally irrelevant,” McCarthy said. “This is about us. It’s not about who comes out of the south end zone tunnel at noon on the 11th. We’ll be ready to go.”
