“Every training camp takes a different path. I thought we got off to a good start in New England. Pittsburgh, very disjointed. I think the injury to Jordy affected guys during the game. The game against Philadelphia, you had some good things, some bad things and some ugly things going on. That’s where we are after three weeks of the preseason,” McCarthy said.
The Packers will conclude the preseason against visiting New Orleans on Thursday. What would please him?
“Everybody gets to play a bunch; everybody has as a chance to show their value to making the football team,” McCarthy said, with an eye toward the roster reduction to 53 following the Saints game. Today, the Packers must reduce their roster to 75.
“This is a very difficult game to play with the 75 cut the Tuesday before the game. There are more than 75 players we’d like to line up and play on Thursday. These seven days, Sunday to Sunday, are the toughest part,” McCarthy said.
Randall Cobb won’t practice on Tuesday, the result of his shoulder injury in last Saturday’s loss to the Eagles. Another Packers receiver may be ready to resume practicing.
“I’m hoping Jared Abbrederis will be able to practice today,” McCarthy said.
Abbrederis hasn’t practiced since sustaining a concussion in the first practice of training camp.
Packers.com will provide a full report following practice and locker room interviews.
