151213-q1-in-game-updates-650GREEN BAY — The Packers and Cowboys each failed to score from point-blank range, and the first quarter of Sunday’s game ended with no score.

The Cowboys won the toss and deferred. Green Bay began at its 9-yard line. Two runs by Eddie Lacy gained a first down. Lacy started at running back. With Coach Mike McCarthy calling plays, the Packers opened with four consecutive running plays. A third-and-3 pass was incomplete and the Packers were forced to punt. The Cowboys took possession at their 24.

Darren McFadden broke loose on a 50-yard run to the Packers 12. Matt Cassel threw to Jason Witten for 10 yards. On third-and-goal, Cassel’s pass was deflected and intercepted in the end zone by Sam Shields.

Lacy broke through the line for 18 yards to the Packers 42. The Packers faced a third-and-9. Rodgers threw incomplete but the Cowboys were flagged for holding, first down at the Packers 48. On third-and-2, James Starks gained 3 and a first down at the Cowboys 30.

A Rodgers-to-Randall-Cobb pass gained a first down at the 18. A second-and-20 screen pass to Lacy left the Packers with a first down at the Cowboys 4. Lacy ran to the 1. On fourth-and-goal, Rodgers was stopped for no gain on a quarterback sneak.

Lacy ran seven times for 41 yards in the first quarter.
