Packers awarded 5th round compensatory pick in 2013 NFL Draft

The NFL announced Monday that the Green Bay Packers have been awarded a 5th round compensatory choice in the 2013 NFL Draft.

Under the rules for compensatory draft selections, a team losing more or better compensatory free agents than it acquires in the previous year is eligible to receive compensatory draft picks. The number of picks a team receives equals the net loss of compensatory free agents up to a maximum of four.

The Packers lost QB Matt Flynn and C Scott Wells in free agency in 2012. Green Bay signed C Jeff Saturday.

The compensatory choices announced today will supplement the 222 choices in the seven rounds of the 2013 NFL Draft (April 25-27), which will kick off in primetime for the fourth consecutive year.

Here is the Packers’ compensatory selection:
Round 5, pick 34 (#167 overall)

Packers have 12 selections in 2012 NFL Draft

The Green Bay Packers are armed with 12 selections in the upcoming 2012 NFL Draft. The NFL Draft returns to primetime in 2012, with the first round taking place Thurs., April 26, followed by the second and third rounds on Fri., April 27. Rounds 4-7 will be held Sat., April 28.

The NFL announced Monday that the Green Bay Packers have been awarded four compensatory choices in the 2012 NFL Draft.

The number of picks a team receives equals the net loss of compensatory free agents up to a maximum of four.

The Packers lost Daryn Colledge, Korey Hall, Brandon Jackson, Cullen Jenkins and Jason Spitz in free agency in 2011. Green Bay didn’t sign any compensatory free agents.

The compensatory choices announced today will supplement the 221 choices in the seven rounds of the 2012 NFL Draft (April 26-28), which will kick off in primetime for the third consecutive year.

Here are the Packers’ four compensatory selections:
Round 4, pick 37 (#132 overall)
Round 4, pick 38 (#133)
