The first possession pits the No. 1 offense vs. the No. 2 defense.
The first series fails to pick up a first down. RB Ryan Grant gains 3 yards on a run, QB Aaron Rodgers scrambles for 6 yards, Grant loses 1 and then Rodgers throws incomplete on fourth-and-2 under pressure from LB Robert Francois.
On the second series, Jason Spitz replaces Daryn Colledge at LG. RB Brandon Jackson gains 1 and then Rodgers hits WR Jordy Nelson for 27 yards over the middle, with Nelson taking a big hit from S Charlie Peprah. Rodgers hits WR James Jones for 7, and after an incomplete pass, then connects with TE Jermichael Finley for 14 and WR Greg Jennings for 10.
Rotations are continuing in the offensive line, with Breno Giacomini and T.J. Lang both taking reps at RT, and Bryan Bulaga at LT. On first-and-10 from the 21, Rodgers nearly gets a TD pass to Jones, but Jones can only get one foot down along the end zone sideline. An illegal contact penalty on CB Sam Shields gives the offense 5 yards and a first down at the 16. Jackson gains 2 on a run and then Rodgers hits Finley over the middle for a 14-yard TD.
