Thursday morning practice report

The Packers worked in full pads on a cool, windy morning at Ray Nitschke Field.

Several veterans were given the morning practice off, with CB Charles Woodson, LBs Brandon Chillar and Nick Barnett, C Scott Wells, Ts Mark Tauscher and Chad Clifton, DEs Cullen Jenkins and Ryan Pickett, WR Donald Driver and TE Donald Lee all sitting out.

Continuing to sit out due to injury were RB Kregg Lumpkin (hamstring), LBs Alex Joseph (quad) and Clay Matthews (hamstring), and the three PUP players – S Atari Bigby (ankle), CB Al Harris (knee) and RB James Starks (hamstring).  WR Brett Swain (knee) and S Derrick Martin (ankle), who have both been on the one-a-day schedule during camp, took the morning session off.

C/G Evan Dietrich-Smith practiced for the first time since spraining his neck in the preseason opener last Saturday.

DE Justin Harrell, who missed both practices on Tuesday due to tightness in his surgically repaired back, had been cleared to practice according to Head Coach Mike McCarthy but was excused to attend to a personal matter.

With three starters on the offensive line getting the morning off, the No. 1 group lined up with Bryan Bulaga at LT, Daryn Colledge at LG, Jason Spitz at C, Josh Sitton at RG, and Breno Giacomini at RT. T.J. Lang also rotated in with the first line at RT.

In the base defense, the line was comprised of Mike Neal at LE, B.J. Raji at NT, and Jarius Wynn at RE.

During team work (11-on-11), S Morgan Burnett picked off a Matt Flynn pass intended for TE Tom Crabtree near the sideline. Later during a third-down drill, Flynn threw a nice pass to WR Jason Chery, who made a leaping grab over CB Pat Lee.

S Will Blackmon delivered a big hit to RB Quinn Porter on a run during a team drill.

QB Graham Harrell connected on a nice pass over the middle to Crabtree with LB Cyril Obiozor covering.

The Packers are back on the field tonight in shells at 6:30 to wrap up the final two-a-day session of camp.
