The Packers get their first defensive TD of the season. On the third snap of the second half, CB Charles Woodson made a diving interception of Hill’s pass, got up and found a convoy of blockers down the right sideline for a 48-yard TD return just 26 seconds into the third quarter.
Detroit challenged the play, but the play stood.
It’s Woodson’s ninth defensive TD with the Packers, extending his team record by one. It’s his eighth INT return for a score with Green Bay, breaking a tie with Herb Adderley for first in the franchise record books in that category. Woodson has one fumble return for a score with the Packers, coming in 2007 vs. Washington.
Woodson’s TD also marks the third straight year he’s returned an INT for a score against Detroit.
Ironically, Packers S Nick Collins should have had an INT on the previous play, but Hill’s pass over the middle bounced right off his hands.
