With the results of this past weekend’s games, the Packers took over the No. 1 ranking in the league in scoring defense — a ranking the team hasn’t held for a full season since winning the Super Bowl following the 1996 campaign. For more on the team’s top ranking, check out today’s feature story.

Also, rookie Bryan Bulaga was thought to be just holding a spot at right tackle until veteran Mark Tauscher returned from his shoulder injury. But now that Tauscher needs season-ending surgery, the job is Bulaga’s full time. That leads off today’s notebook, which also includes updates on RB James Starks and the return of TE Spencer Havner.
