McCarthy Friday press conference notes

Here’s a brief summary of some of McCarthy’s remarks on Friday:

Zombo and Walden both listed as questionable as far as Friday status. Injury report re-sets next week.

Walden will be held out of practice until Wed. in Dallas. Zombo limited on Friday in first day back.

RB Brandon Jackson played key role in pass protection vs. blitzes in Pittsburgh last year. Will be needed in that role again. Rookie James Starks also making progress in blitz pickup.

Team is preparing to win a football game. Focus this week and next is on that, not on everything else.

Looking at last year’s Pittsburgh game, they’re a different team. It’s a different year. You look at the whole season to prepare for this one. Look at teams similar to Packers and how they played vs. Steelers.

McCarthy’s first Super Bowl memory was watching Steelers beat the Vikings in a low-scoring game. That was the Steelers’ first Super Bowl win of the four in the 1970s.

McCarthy has never been to a Super Bowl. This will be his first one.
