INDIANAPOLIS–Packers General Manager Ted Thompson was asked about the potential for drafting a shut-down corner.
“I don’t know that there is anything such thing as a shut-down corner,” Thompson said during his address to the media at the scouting combine on Friday. “This game is made for offensive players, the rules and such.”
Thompson also touched on these topics:
Spread-option quarterbacks–“I don’t know that it’s hurting. I’d rather see them do that than run the wishbone, but sometimes these guys come to the combine and they’ve never taken a snap from under center.”
Running backs–“Good running backs are hard to find. If you’re able to get one, you add a lot of value to your team. Big people are hard to find, but good running backs are hard to find, too.”
Little people–“We call it the Mendoza line. There’s just a point at which you just pass on those players.”
