McCarthy, Capers tout staff
Posted by on February 26, 2011 – 2:50 pmINDIANAPOLIS–Head Coach Mike McCarthy and Defensive Coordinator Dom Capers each expressed surprise this week at the combine that the Packers coaching staff is staying largely intact.
“Frankly, I thought we’d have more movement on our staff,” McCarthy said on Friday.
“We have a very good defensive staff,” Capers told packers.com. “We won’t be able to keep these guys.”
Two defensive coaches in particular, outside linebackers coach Kevin Greene and secondary/safeties coach Darren Perry, may be on the verge of bigger things. Greene and Perry played for Capers’ “Blitzburgh” defense in the mid-1990’s and Greene then followed Capers to Carolina.
“It’s fun for me because it seems like yesterday that those guys were players for me,” Capers said.
