The Bears traded up 9 spots in the second round, from No. 62 to No. 53, taking Washington’s pick and selecting DT Stephen Paea from Oregon State.
That’s two big guys in two rounds for the Bears, who took offensive tackle Gabe Carimi from Wisconsin in the first round on Thursday.
The Bears must have really like Paea. Some analysts had him as a first-rounder. If the Bears did, that’s a really good value at No. 53 when all it cost you is a fourth-rounder (No. 127) to nab a guy graded that high.
Barring any other trade movement, that’s the last NFC North pick of the second round until the Packers finish out the round at No. 64.
