With their third-round pick, and last of Friday night, the Packers took RB Alex Green of Hawaii. He’s the 96th overall pick.
Green, a big back listed at 6-feet and 225 pounds, rushed for 1,199 yards and 18 TDs for Hawaii last season. He topped 100 yards in four of his last six regular-season collegiate games, including a monster 19-carry, 372-yard performance at New Mexico State on Nov. 27. That set a single-game school record.
He will wear No. 39 for the Packers.
Green was the first Hawaii RB to top 1,000 yards in a season since 1992. He was named second-team All-Western Athletic Conference, starting the final 14 games of his career.
Interestingly, he came to Hawaii from Butte Community College in Oroville, Calif., the same junior college that sent QB Aaron Rodgers to Cal.
