Packers draft North Carolina TE Ryan Taylor in seventh round
Posted by on April 30, 2011 – 4:51 pmWith the first of their two seventh-round picks, the Packers have drafted North Carolina tight end Ryan Taylor.
Taylor (6-3, 254) set a school record for most receptions in a season by a tight end with 36 in 2010. He had 330 yards and two TDs.
He was a special teams captain for the Tar Heels for two seasons, in 2008 and 2010. He missed the entire 2009 season and took a medical redshirt due to a knee injury.
Taylor played some linebacker early in his college career due to injuries on his team, and he played both ways in a game in 2008. He was a full-time offensive player at TE last season.
