The Packers Tailgate Tour continues west across the Upper Peninsula of Michigan after a stop at Ewen-Trout Creek School (www.etc.k12.mi.us) in Ewen, Mich. Members of the community were at the school as well; it was not a surprise stop.
Gilbert Brown discussed the dangers of bullying for this group as well. And continued to have fun with Lions and Vikings fans in the audience. He added the Steelers to the group after spotting a Ben Roethlisberger jersey.
He had each of the students with the “incorrect” attire stand up, then told them they all have detention after school.
During the question-and-answer session, Dorsey Levens had some inspirational words for the members of audience when asked about if it was more important to have talent or work ethic.
“Hard work is the key,” he said. “Everyone has talent, some more than others, but you need to work hard to make the most of your talent. Those of us here, most were fifth-round picks or later, so we needed to work hard to make our teams and have success in our careers.
“The same goes for each and every one of you. Work hard and make the most of what talents you’ve been given.”
After applause, Mark Murphy reminded people of the saying, “The harder you work, the luckier you get.”
After more football and t-shirt tosses, the group exited to much applause.
The tour’s next stop is in Ashland, with some down time for the members before tonight’s event at the Ashland Civic Center to benefit BRICK Ministries Inc. The party is sold out.
