After a stop for a tasty lunch break at Tony’s Riverside in Spooner the group stopped at Spooner High School (www.spooner.k12.wi.us/schools/hs/index.html) and were introduced to 400 students in the gym.

During the question-and-answer session, Josh Sitton was asked how much he could bench press.

“Well, back in my college days, I could lift about 475, but I don’t really do that anymore,” Sitton said. At the draft combine, the students learned, he performed 34 repetitions at 225 pounds.

A fun moment came when the Spooner Rail’s offensive line came down to the floor to “line up” against the Packers.

What they received was a admonishment from Gilbert Brown. Brown was disappointed the line’s center was wearing a Brett Favre Vikings jersey.

“First of all, grown men don’t wear purple,” he said. “Next, that jersey is too tight.”

The crowd roared with laughter to that comment.

After the assembly, the players and Murphy helped the school culminate its “Green Week” by helping plant trees near the football field. Earlier days in the week focused on recycling and energy conservation.

A few of the tour members thought maybe this would be the opportunity to see Brown at least show a little of his “Gravedigger” move to help plant trees, but it was not to be.

Next stop is Eau Claire  for the tailgate party tonight to benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters Northwestern Wisconsin.
