Installation of Lambeau Field’s new sound system is complete. Packers IT Director Wayne Wichlacz previewed the new sound system for Packers employees on Wednesday, following a six-week installation project.
“The old system is called a point source system, which means all sound comes from a single place and is pushed toward the stadium. That point was above the north scoreboard, behind the G. This one is called a distributed system. It takes a smaller area of the stadium and focuses the sound to that area. The closer the sound to the listener, the better the sound,” Wichlacz said.
How big is the difference in quality between the two systems?
“I think it’s a pretty good jump. We have some abilities to do other effects with sound we could never do before,” Wichlacz added.
Anthony James Partners is the system’s designer, Pro Media Ultrasound was the main installer and VDH Electric of Green Bay assisted in installation. Pro Media also did the sound system installations at Cowboys Stadium and New Meadowlands Stadium.
