Former Green Bay Packers wide receiver Ken Payne Jr. died earlier this week.
Payne was a sixth-round draft pick out of Langston in 1974 who played in 44 games for the Packers from ’74-77. He caught 103 passes for 1,395 yards and five TDs in his time with Green Bay. He played one additional season in the NFL, catching 13 passes for 238 yards and a TD for Philadelphia in 1978.
Payne was the Packers’ leading receiver in both receptions and yards for two straight seasons. In 1975, he posted career highs of 58 catches and 766 yards. In 1976, he had 33 catches for 467 yards and a career-best four TDs.
