Packers halftime quotes (at Cleveland)

HEAD COACH MIKE McCARTHY:

(thoughts on the offense when Aaron Rodgers was at quarterback) “I thought Aaron did a nice job, and really the offense as a whole, I thought we had a lot of production. But it is the fundamental things that we want to improve. We want to pick up our urgency in our operation, clean up some fundamentals, and that really goes for all three phases of our football team.”

(on Matt Flynn) “The same thing. I thought Matt did a great job on the two-minute drill. He was very smart and managed the clock very well, attacked the middle of the field. He did a nice job on the screen play, so Matt did a lot of positive things.”

(general impressions of the defense) “The same thing. We’ve just got to pick it up a little bit. This is our first game, our first live action, our first chance to tackle all the way through. So this will be great film to learn from and we’ve got 30 more minutes.”

(quarterback plan for second half) “Graham Harrell will start the second half.”

QUARTERBACK AARON RODGERS

(on how it felt being back on the field) “It felt good to be out there with the guys. I was disappointed with the first drive, but we responded well on the second drive and put it in the end zone.”

(on using the no-huddle offense) “It was good for us, a change of pace. I was able to make some checks and some guys made some plays. It is a good changeup for us. They probably weren’t expecting it, so it was good to get that done and get a score.”

(on the touchdown to Greg Jennings after the offside penalty) “Yeah, that is something we have done with a lot of effectiveness. I was talking to Greg on the sideline before that last drive and said, ‘Hey, let’s put this one in the end zone and take a break.’ Fortunately he made a great play on the ball and a great catch.”

SAFETY MORGAN BURNETT

(on being back on the field) “It felt really good to get back out there, back in the flow of the full game and moving around. I’m just happy and excited to be back out there. The knee felt good. It’s been feeling good the whole camp, so there are no worries about it.”

(on his performance) “I did OK. There is still a lot of room for improvement and I am striving to get better.

(on the first-team defense’s play) “Everything went pretty well. We’re still learning and still pushing to reach our goals for 2011.”
