Former Packers Mark Tauscher and Brady Poppinga are among the 23 current and former NFL players slated to take part in the league’s sixth annual “Broadcast Boot Camp” at NFL Films in Mt. Laurel, N.J., from June 18-21.
The seminar includes instructors from the NFL’s various broadcast partners and introduces the participants to the different parts of broadcast operations. All the players will serve as live guest host on SiriusXM NFL Radio during the program.
Tauscher last played for the Packers in 2010, starting the first four games of the season at right tackle before an injury cut short his season. Originally drafted in the seventh round in 2000, Tauscher became a starter his rookie year and played in 134 games for the Packers.
Poppinga, a fourth-round pick in 2005, played six seasons for the Packers and also had his 2010 season end early due to injury. Last season, he played for the St. Louis Rams. Poppinga spent the 2007 bye week at NFL Films and made a cameo as a guest studio analyst, telling packers.com at that time he would look into attending the “Broadcast Boot Camp” at some point.
According to a league press release, 105 players have taken part in the camp from 2007-11, and 44 of them have earned broadcasting jobs.
