GREEN BAY–Wide receiver Jordy Nelson returned to practice on Sunday, giving rise to speculation he will play in the season opener in San Francisco on Sept. 8. Nelson had been out of action since early in training camp, when he underwent a procedure to address pain in his knee.

Nelson was joined in practice by wide receiver Randall Cobb, who missed Friday’s game against Seattle due to a bicep injury that has dogged him through camp. Cobb appeared to be under no duress during practice on Sunday.

Three key defensive players and starting running back DuJuan Harris, however, did not practice. Harris sustained re-injury to the knee that caused him to miss most of training camp. Safety Morgan Burnett, cornerback Casey Hayward and linebacker Brad Jones were all sidelined with hamstring issues on Sunday.

In other news, Mason Crosby, Giorgio Tavecchio and newly signed kicker Zach Ramirez competed on Sunday. Crosby was 10 of 11 on kicks that ranged from 34 to 63 yards. He missed wide to the left from 53. Tavecchio was nine of 11, missing wide to the right from 45 and wide to the left from 63. Ramirez was 10 of 11, missing wide to the rilght from 45. The final two kicks for each kicker were from 60 and 63 yards. They were kicking with a significant wind at their back. will provide a full report following practice.
