The Packers opened the scoring with an 87-yard drive, the big play of which was a 34-yard pass from Scott Tolzien to Jordy Nelson, good for a first down at the Vikings 16-yard line. Eddie Lacy then ran over a couple of defenders for 10 yards and a first down at the Vikings 6-yard line. Two plays later, Tolzien scrambled six yards for a touchdown. He deked Vikings defensive tackle Letroy Guion to score with 4:59 to play.

Vikings rookie Cordarrelle Patterson returned the ensuing kickoff 57 yards to the Packers 42-yard line. Patterson returned a kickoff 109 yards against the Packers a month ago.

The Vikings moved to a first down at the 21. The drive stalled and kicker Blair Walsh converted a 36-yard field goal attempt with 1:37 to play in the quarter.

Lacy put on an impressive display of power running, gaining 33 yards on the ground but running over several defenders in the process.
