131218-winter-300The Green Bay Packers and the HearStrong Foundation recently honored Packers alumni Blaise Winter as a HearStrong Champion.

Winter was named MVP at Syracuse University in 1983, and played in the NFL for 11 years for the Indianapolis Colts, San Diego Chargers and the Packers.

The HearStrong Foundation is a nonprofit organization that works to further hearing loss awareness by honoring HearStrong Champions who have overcome hearing loss to achieve their goals and inspire others to do the same.

Winter’s hearing loss was possibly the result of several tumors in his ears that he was born with. Although he didn’t utilize any hearing devices until he began his professional football career in 1984, he developed a positive attitude and determination to overcome his challenges and succeed.
