GREEN BAY–Pads were popping in half-line drills and Aaron Rodgers pitched touchdown passes to three different receivers in a red-zone drill, as the Packers returned to the practice field on Monday evening following Saturday’s “Family Night.”
Tight ends Jake Stoneburner and Andrew Quarless and wide receiver Jordy Nelson each caught perfect spirals from Rodgers to highlight the red-zone drill, which also featured the quick-into-the-hole running of James Starks and the power of Eddie Lacy. On one play, Lacy plowed through three defenders to score. Rodgers was at his best.
Safety Sean Richardson and linebacker Joe Thomas punctuated half-line drills with crisp contact, and the tempo of practice matched the energy that spilled over into one playful skirmish between offensive and defensive linemen.
Rookie wide receiver Jeff Janis practiced; rookie tight end Colt Lyerla and running back Michael Hill did not.
