140805-bush-300GREEN BAY–Challenged by Aaron Rodgers’ flawless performance in Monday night’s practice, the defense responded impressively on Tuesday.

Following Rodgers completions to Jarrett Boykin and Brandon Bostick in a team drill, veteran cornerback Jarrett Bush stepped in front of a Rodgers pass intended for Boykin and made an interception, drawing oohs and aahs from the crowd at Ray Nitschke Field. Safety Chris Banjo immediately followed by breaking up a Matt Flynn pass intended for tight end Ryan Taylor.

The major news of practice would seem to be an injury that left offensive lineman Don Barclay to be carted from the field. Barclay was pass blocking against linebacker Adrian Hubbard when Barclay suddenly went to the ground and clutched his right knee. The drill was moved as the medical staff attended to Barclay. During the “TV timeout” that followed, teammates helped Barclay onto a cart.

Safety Morgan Burnett didn’t practice. First-round draft pick Ha Ha Clinton-Dix took reps with the No. 1 defense in place of Burnett.

Packers.com will post a story during Coach Mike McCarthy’s post-practice press conference.
