Linebacker Jamari Lattimore connected with a shot to an unidentified offensive lineman’s face, and what had already been a spirited half-line drill became, by far, the most intense exercise in training camp to date. The defense will no doubt claim victory in a drill that concluded with rookie LaDarius Perkins being tackled for a 3-yard loss, Michael Hill being swallowed up in the backfield, and quarterback Chase Rettig fumbling the exchange from center.
Nerves began to fray when offensive lineman Lane Taylor gave nose tackle Mike Pennel a post-play shove. Tight end Ryan Taylor lost his helmet during one play and, following the Lattimore outburst, the defense was seen urging on the crowd, which gleefully complied.
Lattimore was playing in place of starting linebacker Brad Jones, who did not practice on Wednesday.
Rookie wide receiver Davante Adams (wrist) returned to practice.
Packers.com will provide a report from Coach Mike McCarthy’s post-practice press conference.
