GREEN BAY — The Packers are listing both RT Bryan Bulaga and CB Casey Hayward as questionable for Sunday’s game in Detroit. Bulaga has a knee injury and Hayward has a glute injury. Both have been limited in practice all week.
On Friday, Packers Head Coach Mike McCarthy said both players would have to get through all of Saturday’s practice, which will be inside the Don Hutson Center on the same field-turf surface as Detroit’s Ford Field, as their final “hurdle” to get clearance to play.
If Bulaga is forced to miss his second straight game, Derek Sherrod would start in his place once again. McCarthy said he saw a lot of improvement in Sherrod from the Seattle game to last week’s start against the Jets.
“Going into the game (off the bench) in Seattle is a bigger challenge than preparing the whole week and playing,” McCarthy said. “I thought he took a huge step from Week 1 to Week 2. I feel good about Derek and the direction he’s going.”
Elsewhere on the injury report, LB Brad Jones (quad) will miss his second straight game and Jamari Lattimore will start in his place again. LB Andy Mulumba (knee) is out and McCarthy said earlier this week he’s been lost for the season, which would signal a pending move to injured reserve at some point.
DB Micah Hyde (knee) is probable after returning to full participation in practice on Thursday. Hyde took a shot to the kneecap while returning a punt last Sunday but has recovered quickly, to no one’s surprise.
“Just knowing Micah’s personality, he’s the type you’re going to have to cut his arm off to keep him off the field,” McCarthy said. “I had confidence he’d be ready.”
