GREEN BAY–Rain couldn’t douse the fire the Packers ignited in Chicago last Sunday. The Packers offense was firing on both cylinders in taking a 14-0 lead into the second quarter of Thursday night’s game against the visiting Minnesota Vikings.

After an exchange of punts, the Packers took possession at their 39 and began with an 18-yard run by Eddie Lacy. Then Lacy broke off left tackle for 29 yards to the Vikings 14, flattening a defender along the way. One more time, Lacy took the handoff, this time gaining 6. On second-and-4, Aaron Rodgers pitched an 8-yard touchdown pass to Randall Cobb, 7-0, with 9:39 to play in the first quarter.

The Packers defense forced a punt and Rodgers had the ball back at his 19 with 6:50 left. It took only four plays for Rodgers to fire a 66-yard touchdown pass to Jordy Nelson, who used a double move to put more than 10 yards between himself and the Vikings defender.

Meanwhile, the Vikings offense, playing without rookie quarterback Teddy Bridgewater, was unable to mount a drive.
