SEATTLE–The Packers took a 16-7 lead into the fourth quarter of today’s NFC title game in CenturyLink Field.
The Seahawks began a drive at their 22-yard line early in the third quarter. They crossed midfield in four plays and had a first down at the Packers 39. That’s when Clay Matthews burst through the line and sacked Russell Wilson for a 15-yard loss but, on third-and-19, Wilson found Doug Baldwin for 29 yards to the Packers 19.
Two plays left Wilson facing third-and-10 and Wilson appeared to drop it into Marshawn Lynch’s hands, but Sam Barrington stripped it and the Seahawks were left to kick a field goal, or so everyone thought. Coach Pete Carroll responded with a bold decision, as holder Jon Ryan threw to backup lineman Garry Gilliam for a 19-yard touchdown with 4:44 to play, 16-7.
