GREEN BAY–The Packers selected Stanford wide receiver Ty Montgomery in the third round of Friday night’s NFL draft.
Montgomery, 6-0, 221, is described as being strongly built, resembling a running back. He returned two kicks for 49 yards in the Senior Bowl, which would suggest Montgomery was drafted with kick return in mind. He has been compared to the Vikings’ Cordarrelle Patterson, one of the league’s top kick returners.
He ran a 4.55 40 at the scouting combine, where he no doubt impressed teams in interviews. Montgomery is said to be a high-character and personable player.
