GREEN BAY — Rookie wide receiver Ty Montgomery was running with the first-team offense, which included wide receivers Randall Cobb and Davante Adams, on the first play of a team drill in Tuesday’s practice at Ray Nitschke Field. A few plays later, Montgomery caught a deep-out pass from quarterback Brett Hundley.
Montgomery, Jeff Janis and Myles White are thought to be the top contenders for the Packers’ No. 3 receiver role. It had previously belonged to Adams, but he has moved into one of the top two spots as a result of Jordy Nelson’s season-ending knee injury.
