On the heels of being named the Packers’ 2015 Community Service Award winner at last week’s “Welcome Back” luncheon, LB Sam Barrington has been named the NFL Players Association Community MVP for Week 1 this season.
This past week, Barrington headlined a fundraiser for Wisconsin Literacy, a non-profit coalition of community-based literacy programs throughout Wisconsin. The charity provides essential literacy programs for adults, and more 1.5 million Wisconsin residents qualify for services.
Barrington is also planning to host a “Green and Gold” event in October to support three school programs. One is for literacy programs at a local elementary school, and two are to bring synthetic turf fields to two public high schools. He’s also working on public transportation issues in the Green Bay area.
