151101-q1-in-game-updates-650DENVER — The Packers trailed the Broncos, 7-0, following one quarter of play at Sports Authority Field on Sunday night.

The Packers won the toss and elected to defer their choice. Denver began its opening possession at its 20 and was forced to punt. The Packers began their first possession at their 23.

Eddie Lacy burst free for 11 yards on his second carry of the night. Eventually, the Packers would face a third-and-17 from the Packers 36. Aaron Rodgers threw incomplete deep for James Jones, and the Packers were forced to punt.

The Broncos began a drive at their 17. On the first play, Ronnie Hillman rushed for 16 yards and a first down. Peyton Manning pitched a 10-yard completion and C.J. Anderson followed with a 9-yard run to the Packers 44. The big play in the drive was a 30-yard completion from Manning to Demaryius Thomas that carried to the Packers 7.

Manning threw to Thomas, again, on second-and-goal, to the 1. On the next play, Hillman scored, 7-0, with 4:39 to play in the first quarter. In the drive, Packers cornerback Sam Shields sustained a shoulder injury. His return was questionable.

The Packers went five and out — all passes — and the Broncos had the ball back at their 15.

Manning threw to Virgil Green for 19 yards. A screen pass to Owen Daniels gained 16 to the Broncos 48. It was the last play of the quarter.
