“It’s a very important game. There’s no doubt about it,” McCarthy said.
With a win over the Cardinals, the Packers can claim the No. 2 playoff seed with a win over the Vikings and a Cardinals loss to the Seahawks in Week 17.
Is it about more than that, McCarthy was asked?
“It’s about winning in December. We’re in the playoffs now. Everyone knows what we have to do to win the division and get the high seed. This is about winning. This is about being a good football team, and there’s nothing better than winning,” he said. “This is a big challenge for our defense.”
The Packers made two roster moves on Monday: Tight end Andrew Quarless was moved from IR (designated for return) to the active roster, and wide receiver Ty Montgomery was moved to injured reserve.
“Veteran player, has played a lot of football for us. This is a good addition for us,” McCarthy said of Quarless.
Montgomery has been out of action since injuring an ankle in Week 6.
“We tried everything. It just didn’t get to where it needed to. It’s unfortunate, especially the way the young man started the season,” McCarthy said.
